DWFP Call for Pre-Proposals (Closing Date: 14 Sept 2012; 6:00PM EST)

The Armed Forces Pest Management Board announces this year’s call for pre-proposals for competitive grants under the Deployed War-Fighter Protection (DWFP) research program for Fiscal Year 2013 (FY13). The official announcement can be found a http://www.afpmb.org/content/call-dwfp-pre-proposals-2012.

Priorities for FY13 include: Effective alternatives to permethrin for military uniform/textile treatment for personal protection against biting flies, mosquitoes and other arthropods; rapid assays for permethrin quantification on clothing in field situations; and field studies to evaluate short and long-term efficacies of permethrin-treated military uniforms with and without topical repellents for protecting deployed military personnel against biting pests and vectors. We will also consider pre-proposals related to development and testing of public health pesticides, repellents and related application technologies. The DWFP program is especially amenable to pre-proposals that accelerate the transition of products from lab to commercial partners for use by both the military and the general public. Please forward as appropriate to colleagues and researchers who may not be in our AFPMB community. This call for pre-proposals is also posted on https://www.fbo.gov under project Funding Opportunity Number: DWFP-13-S-01.

Should you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact Lt Col Douglas A. Burkett, PhD at (301) 295-8315 (DSN 295), or discuss with DWFP Technical Consultant, Dr Graham White: office 352-374-5968, cell 352-328-9473, graham.white@ars.usda.gov.
