AFRI Foundational RFA has been released

The FY 2013 AFRI Foundational RFA was released on Monday afternoon.  This RFA focuses on building a foundation of knowledge in fundamental and applied food and agricultural sciences critical for solving current and future societal challenges.  I suggest you peruse the entire RFA to see if there are any opportunities for you or your colleagues.  The different Program Areas have different deadlines, so please read the RFA carefully.

I would like to highlight one of the six Program Areas for those of you interested in pest management: Plant Health and Production and Plant Products  (pg 6-9)

Letter of Intent Deadline – November 26, 2012 (5:00 p.m. ET); see Part IV, A for instructions
Application Deadline – February 18, 2013 (5:00 p.m. ET)
Total Program Funds – Approximately $37 million

Program Area Priorities

1.     Plant Breeding for Agricultural Production

2.     Understanding Biological Mechanisms for Plant Production

3.     Understanding Plant-Associated Microorganisms and Plant-Microbe Interactions

4.     Controlling Weedy and Invasive Plants

5.     Plant-Associated Insects and Nematodes
